Orange wines, ancient tradition and modernity. Discover Roico
Orange wines, also known as amber wines, are probably the oldest in the world... and also the most modern. Made from white grapes but using red wine techniques—that is, fermented with the skins—they result in golden or orange-colored wines, with complex aromas, texture, and an unforgettable character.
A journey that began over 8,000 years ago in the Caucasus, in modern-day Georgia, where wines were already being made in qvevri, buried clay vessels where white must fermented with the skins. This ancient tradition has resurfaced in places like Slovenia, Italy (Friuli), France, and Austria, with producers rediscovering the value of time, patience, and minimal intervention.

What does an orange wine taste like?
They typically have aromas of dried fruits, spices, withered flowers, or tea. On the palate, they are more structured than conventional white wines, with soft tannins and firm acidity. Perfect for umami-rich dishes, aged cheeses, mushrooms, or Asian cuisine.
Roico 2023 (Adega do Vimbio)
If you want to try one from Galicia, Roico is an orange wine made by Martín and Patricia in their sustainable winery in Goian. 100% white wine, fermented with skins, without additives, unfiltered, and with only 500 bottles produced. Bright golden, with notes of ripe citrus, brioche, and dried flowers, it has a long, mineral, and saline finish. An honest and vibrant expression.

Wines with soul and freedom At VinNatura, we love how these wines recapture the essence of the natural; without makeup, without haste, with truth. Roico is not just a wine, it's a statement of intent. This summer, make room for the unexpected. Dare to try an orange wine.
