Bierzo
El Bierzo, located in the province of León, in northwestern Spain, is a wine region surrounded by mountains that create a perfect microclimate for viticulture. Its soils, primarily composed of slate and clay, offer ideal conditions for producing wines with a unique character.
The winemaking history of this enclave dates back to Roman times, but its contemporary rebirth came in 1989 with the creation of the Bierzo Designation of Origin. Since then, the area has made a name for itself thanks to its distinctive wines, especially Mencía reds and Godello whites. Mencía, in particular, stands out for its intense aromas and remarkable aging potential.
Among the most influential producers are José Antonio García, who has revitalized family vineyards in Valtuille de Abajo, and Raúl Pérez, an essential figure in Spanish oenology, famous for his exceptional creations. El Bierzo is characterized by small plots that reflect the diversity of its terroir, allowing for a classification of wines that includes the specific site and municipality of origin to emphasize the uniqueness of each bottle.
Additionally, this region boasts abundant vineyards with centenarian vines. In the so-called "golden mile," between Valtuille and Corullón, lies the largest extension of old vineyards in the world in a single area of 400 hectares, distributed among numerous owners who continue to uphold a centuries-old tradition.
El Bierzo offers an excellent wine experience, with wines that capture the essence of its landscape and the dedication of its winemakers. At VinNatura, we invite you to discover and enjoy this premium collection, the result of a selection made with respect for the environment.
