Native Red Wine - Freshness and Galician Character

The Caiño Tinto grape is a native variety of Galicia, particularly valued in the Rías Baixas. This variety is mainly grown in the sub-areas of Val do Salnés and Ribeira do Ulla, where the Atlantic climate and varied soils provide ideal conditions for its development.

Historically, the Caiño Tinto grape has been present in Galicia since ancient times, although its cultivation has been limited due to its late ripening and climatic sensitivity. In recent years, however, there has been a resurgence in its cultivation thanks to the dedication of winegrowers committed to preserving native varieties.

Wines made from Caiño Tinto are known for their intensity and structure, presenting high acidity and firm tannins. These wines have a deep ruby red color with violet hues when young. On the nose, they offer complex aromas of ripe red and black fruits, spices, licorice and floral notes. On the palate, they stand out for their balance and persistence, making them ideal for pairing with red meats, game and stewed dishes.

In addition to the Rías Baixas, Caiño Tinto is also grown in other appellations in Galicia such as Ribeiro and Ribeira Sacra, although to a lesser extent. In these regions, it is still valued for the distinctive quality it brings to the wines.
