Iría Otero's winery, known as "Vinos con Memoria," is located in Leiro, in the Avia River Valley, a region with a rich winemaking tradition in the Ribeiro DO. Iría Otero, a winemaker from A Coruña, started this project in 2017 after an extensive career in renowned wineries, such as Dominio do Bibei.
Iría Otero specialises in producing small-scale wines from old vineyards and local grape varieties. Their approach is focused on responsible, organic viticulture, without the use of harsh herbicides or pesticides, which is a challenge in the humid Ribeiro region. Iría works with several small plots totalling approximately 4 hectares in Ribeiro and just over 1 hectare in Rías Baixas.
Among its wines, those aged in concrete and chestnut barrels stand out, following traditional techniques that highlight the rusticity and authenticity of local varieties such as Treixadura and Loureiro. Its wines are characterized by being subtle and complex, seeking to express the terroir without excessive intervention.
The winery is a family effort, with the active participation of her partner Miguel in viticulture, ensuring a comprehensive and sustainable approach. In addition, Iría Otero is exploring wine tourism, offering visitors a unique experience of connection with the history and environment of the Ribeiro.
Iría Otero wines have a strong presence in the international market, with significant exports to the United States, Germany, Australia and Denmark. Despite the challenges imposed by additional tariffs in certain markets, Iria wines continue to gain recognition for their quality and authenticity.
