Description
Aturuxo 2020 is a red wine from Pedro Méndez, produced in the Val do Salnés subregion of Rías Baixas. This wine is made with native grapes such as Caíño Tinto, grown on decomposed granite soils that provide a distinctive minerality. The winery follows sustainable, low-intervention winemaking practices, allowing the terroir to fully express itself in each bottle.
Pedro Méndez does a great job recovering native varieties from the area, making wines outside the DO. Caiño Tinto is a native Galician grape known for its acidity and aromatic properties. These grapes come from old vineyards located in the Rías Baixas region, specifically in Val do Salnés. The combination of granitic soils and the Atlantic climate give this wine a distinctive freshness and salinity.
Aturuxo's production It follows traditional processes with fermentation in stainless steel tanks and aging in French oak barrels, which contributes to the wine's complexity and depth. The result is an excellent wine with a very low production and low alcohol content.
Tasting Notes
This wine has a bright ruby red color. On the nose, it displays aromas of ripe red fruits, such as cherry and raspberry, complemented by floral and herbaceous notes. On the palate, it is elegant and well-structured, with balanced acidity and soft tannins. The red fruit flavors intertwine with mineral notes and a long, lingering finish.
