O Fogar do Castriño 2020 is an Albariño, made by Nanclares and Prieto. It comes from vineyards located in the Inxertal and A Granxa plots in Sisán, within the Val do Salnés subzone in Rías Baixas. The granitic and sandy soils, combined with a moderate Atlantic climate, provide an excellent terroir.
Nanclares y Prieto is a sustainable agriculture winery. Located in Galicia, the winery is dedicated to producing wines that reflect the natural environment. The century-old vines are grown on decomposed and sandy granitic soils, which gives minerality and freshness to their wines. The 2020 vintage was particularly favourable, with a mild climate that allowed for optimal ripening of the grapes.
O Fogar do Castriño is fermented in a 500-litre chestnut barrel and aged for 24 months on lees, with batonnage during the first month. The wine is bottled unfiltered and unclarified, resting for 21 months in the bottle before release, which gives it structure and complexity.
Tasting Notes
It displays aromas of citrus, nectarine, floral notes and mineral touches. It is fresh and vibrant, with a balanced acidity and a long, saline finish that reflects its unique terroir.
