Description
Miñato da Raña 2022 · Heroic Viticulture
Miñato da Raña 2022, from Nanclares y Prieto, is a fresh, rustic, and authentic Galician red wine, born from a mountain vineyard cultivated on granite slopes near the Miño River. It comes from the A Raña vineyard, which consists of very old vines reflecting a demanding, manual viticulture deeply linked to the landscape.
The 2022 vintage combines red and white varieties planted in the same plot, following the tradition of mixed Galician vineyards. This composition provides freshness, complexity, and a very lively expression, with a light, mineral, and gastronomic profile.
Winemaking is done by hand: manual harvest, foot treading, fermentation with whole bunches in old 600-liter French oak barrels, and 9 months of aging in the same vessels. The wine is bottled without fining or filtering, respecting its natural character and the expression of the vineyard.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Bright ruby red with violet hues.
Nose: Fresh and expressive, with aromas of cherry, raspberry, subtle herbaceous notes, and a delicate mineral background.
Palate: Lively and balanced, with marked freshness, fine tannins, and a long, persistent finish.
An ideal wine for those seeking the freshness, rusticity, and natural elegance of small-production Galician reds.
Food Pairings
Miñato da Raña 2022 is a fresh and versatile red, with fine tannins and great liveliness. It pairs very well with flavorful, but not excessively heavy dishes.
It goes particularly well with Galician empanada, pulpo á feira (octopus), lacón con grelos (pork shoulder with turnip greens), stewed free-range chicken, garlic rabbit, lamb chops, grilled bonito, confit cod, salmon en papillote, mushroom risotto, red tuna sushi, spicy fish tacos, and semi-cured cheeses.
